It's been awhile...

Has it really been a year and a half since my last post? Talk about a hiatus. I really need to start putting some more stuff up here! Lets see, what's kicking around in iPhoto? Aha, the snail car! Took this shot at the 3rd Annual Handcar Regatta in Railroad Square, downtown Santa Rosa. Who wouldn't want their method of transportation to be a large metal snail?

Puerto Vallartan textures

I'm a sucker for texture, and there were plenty to be found on our honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta last summer. These images were taken with the Pen EE.

Olympus Pen EE

Well, I bought another old camera about a week ago. This time it's an Olympus Pen half frame camera. It takes images on 35mm film, but it only shoots half of a 35mm frame at a time. What this means is that each 4x6 image is actually composed of 2 smaller 2x3 images. I shot a test roll a few days ago and following are some of the results. I'm really looking forward to using this camera quite a bit more in the very near future.

Technicolor Skull

I took this photo about a year and a half ago out at the Wild Animal Park. I always liked this shot, but it was a complete pain to print in the lab. I could never really get the same colors in the upper corners and the background. Guess I'll have to be content with a scan of it. This shot makes me want to shoot something with my Holga right now. Maybe I'll let her come along with the Great Wall on my next outing.

Hawkeye in the chicken capital

This image was taken in February in Petaluma with a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye. I'm determined to use all of the cameras I own at least once this year. On this trip to Petaluma it was the Brownie's turn to come out for a few rolls.

Cameras used so far this year:
  • Yashica A TLR
  • Holga
  • Canon K2 35mm
  • Yashica GSN Electro 35mm Rangefinder
  • Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
I'm thinking about taking the Great Wall out for my next excursion. Probably the best $80 I've spent in photography yet. It's got nice vignetting, sharp in the center, and depth of field like you wouldn't believe. Until next time...

Mike
I guess it all has to start somewhere, right? Lets go over what you probably won't get on this site:
  • Personal anecdotes and musings on politics, current events, and life in general.
  • Stories about how wonderful or horrible my life may be at any given moment.
  • What I'm currently listening to.
  • My favorite foods, colors, movie stars, etc...
What you will get at Twelve Squares:
  • Photographic images
I want to post images that I've taken for people to see, plain and simple. They might be color, they might be black and white, they might even be Polaroids.

So without further ado, the first (and possibly only) gnome photo I'll ever take.

If you see something you like please feel free to leave comments. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy whats to come.
